Floyd County man injured in logging accident

A Floyd County man was injured during a logging accident today on Mud creek.

Mud Creek fire and Rescue responded to the call and discovered that 37-year old Gary Tackett Jr. of Toler was cutting a tree on Rebel Hollow or what is more commonly known as Eddie Akers Branch when the tree kicked back knocking Tackett over an embankment.

"We received a call arounf 10:52am of a logging accident. when I got here on scene we heard from his father and his son that he had broke his leg. EMS is up there trying to get him off the hill. The Floyd County Rescue Squad is up there with them just trying to get him off the hill to transport him to as local hospital. What we know right now is that he just has a broken leg and everything else is fine."

Tackett was transported to Pikeville Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
