Johnson Central falls in first round of the KHSAA State Baseball Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Johnson Central Golden Eagles made their third trip to the Whitaker Bank KHSAA State Baseball Tournament on Friday, June 9 but the results weren't exactly what they planned for.

Last season, the Golden Eagles advanced to the field of eight in the state baseball tournament after picking up a game one win over Highlands. This season, it was a rematch but the Golden Eagles couldn't hold off the Bluebirds as Highlands got the best of Johnson Central 3-1.

The Bluebirds held Johnson Central to just two hits. The Golden Eagles had it tough until the sixth inning when senior Geordan Blanton put himself on third with a triple to right-center-field and senior Austin Davis brought him home with a RBI grounder.

The Golden Eagles finish their season with a record of 31-8.
