Tornado Confirmed In Lawrence County

Meteorologist with the National Weather Service Office in Charleston WV spent the day in Lawrence County surveying damage from Monday's severe storms. They confirmed it was a tornado that touched down near the town of Louisa Monday afternoon. The storm caused extensive structural damage at the Louisa Wal-Mart and Brown Food Service Warehouse. Cars and shipping containers were overtowned and moved up to 30 yards in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Numerous trees were snapped and uprooted along the path of the tornado. The tornado crossed into Fort Gay in Wayne County, WV causing relatively minor tree damage along Broadway Street.
